JW Wood Supports Local Charity
We pride ourselves in supporting a wide range of local charities. This month saw student rep Dawn Pirie take part in a sponsored dog walk, aptly named “Paws for a Cause” to help raise money for the St Cuthbert’s hospice.
At the starting line, some participants are slobbering, others are scratching themselves, and still others are sticking their noses in inappropriate places. But their social faux "paws" are forgiven, because they have four (sometimes three) legs, wet noses and fur...and they're walking to raise money for charity.
Dawn remarked, “Besides being a fun day out for all the family, it was a unique way to raise money for a charity close to our hearts, St Cuthebert’s hospice, which will really help them through the winter months in providing care for those in need of palliative care and for their families”.
The walk took place on Sunday afternoon on the 13th October and attracted more than 150 fund raisers all with their four-legged best friends walking 1.5- mile or three-mile routes in Houghall Woods.
